Living with arthritis can be challenging at times, the pain and swelling can make normal everyday tasks difficult. Certain spices have anti-inflammatory properties and using these spices is an easy way to help relieve arthritis naturally.

Turmeric – Turmeric contains curcumin which studies have shown has anti-inflammatory properties reducing the swelling in painful joints. This bright yellow spice has been used medicinally for centuries. It absorbs best into the body when paired with black pepper, so try adding both together to your foods. Cinnamon – Cinnamon is often used in apple pie or other baked goods. It contains anti-inflammatory compounds which can reduce pain and swelling of your joints. Adding some to tea, coffee, cereal or oatmeal is a great way to incorporate it in your diet.


Ginger – Studies have shown ginger to contain properties that help block inflammation and also help other arthritis symptoms. This spice has been used for centuries to help with headaches, upset stomach, infection and treat inflammation. Add this zesty spice to a variety of dishes or enjoy a ginger tea. 


Cloves – Cloves contain a property that helps to slow the production of a protein that is present in arthritis. This makes it have anti-inflammatory benefits to help treat and relieve arthritis pain and swelling. Cloves are used in baked goods, soups, stews or hot drinks like tea or cider.


Add these spices to a variety of your foods throughout the day. By adding a little spice to your life either with foods or with a supplement you can reduce inflammation and the relieve your arthritis pain naturally!
